Terribly busy me...

The Samazama Birds were selected by the Embroiderers' Guild for the Graduate Showcase at this years Knitting and Stitching shows, I was able to go to Alexandra Palace, London and Harrogate International Exhibition Centre. It was fab, to be part of the shows and I met some other amazing fellow graduates of 2011 and made some great friends, you can find them in Embroidery Magazine!
Thank you so much to the Embroiderers'Guild for selecting me and my work!

I have been terribly busy since I last posted on here, I have been working as a Weaver, which is amazing, and I'm very lucky to have landed on my Textile feet, and so close to home too!

Renee, She smokes cocktail ciggarettes don't you know!

This afternoon, I'm working on a commissioned, smaller version of Renee. Its actually a real fun challenge to recreate a product  at a smaller scale and make it exactly the same, a coffee fueled challenge for my brain!

NEC Interior show 2011,

Just found this on the net:

Arts Thread published this arcticle in Feb, which shows my work( the middle fabric on the the rignt,) which was part of  BIAD Textiles & Global Color Research Trends, NEC Interiors 2011.

'Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) third year textile undergraduate students, with the support of a strong academic team, showed off their talents to key players in the Interiors industry, at Birmingham’s interiors 2011 at the NEC.

As in previous years, BIAD was approached by the organisers of interiors to interpret Global Color Research’s Global Color Mix colour trends for autumn/winter 2011/2012; Afrika, Botanic, Curve and Fable. The Global Color Mix magazine is distributed internationally and is aimed at the interior design sector, acting as a forecasting guide, ‘dedicated to innovative design through inspirational colour trends’. My Japanese fan club from New Designers, last week in Islington.

Wow, it was amazing to be selected to go to New Designers at the Business Design Centre, and this Japanese Knitting group were so sweet and loved my Knits for the Samazama collection.

Samazama Birds

Meet Larry, the Brightest of the Samazama Birdy family so far.
My own take on the traditional Japanese crane icon, and a cluster of my machine knitted fabrics.

A shiney new Blog!

A starting point, a thought, an idea, leads to a concept, lots of experimentation and then a Samazama Bird.
